Updates from Attapadi

Messages\CD of Albany kids taken to Calicut

I spoke to Paul achen at Attapadi Ashram today. Achen said that the messages written by the Albany kids and the Video CD of their Christmas messages etc to Sneha are sent to Calicut where Sneha and Sachu are staying. They will be shown and explained to Sneha and Sachu on a one-one basis. Also the messages written by the Albany kids are being shown to Sneha and she is being told about her new friends in Albany. Earlier all the kids in Attapadi had seen the video.

Achen said he was hoping that she is able to speak in about 7 months by the speech therapy that is going on. She had written the Christmas message (on the Christmas card we got) by her own hand, but it was an "all day affair" as achen put it. So it will be a little while more before she can write back to us, but achen said he has it in mind to connect her to us at the earliest.

Paul achen said that in the video taken by Rajesh (still awaiting!) there are good clippings of Sneha/Sachu - their classes, and also about the others in Attapadi.

Also achen said there are 2 families who will soon join Attapadi Ashram (one from Nigeria and one from Calicut, I think) to work with the other staff there (as part of their mission work) so that there would be more people around. Achen said they also would be made aware of the unique project of Sneha with Albany Sunday school. (M.D. John achen who was the director there is now transferred to Parumala Seminary and a new achen Saji achen has now joined there.) I have heard that Saji achen is another devoted and prayer ful person, silent but one with extra ordinary talents.

I also spoke to John achen, now in Parumala, who said that he was kind of sad to be away from Attapadi since he was so involved with the Ashram and also with Sachu and Sneha and the other kids.

Luv,
Sunil.

Awaiting new pictures and videos from Attapadi!

I learnt from Rajesh that the kids (not only Sachu and Sneha, but all the rest of the gang in Attapadi) were very happy and excited to see the messages and video of our kids and teachers from Albany Sunday School. Rajesh said he so much wanted to capture all the moments on his camera, but could not, partly because the place Attapadi is so notorious for power cuts.

He also mentioned that little Sachu (3 years old) was very smartly carrying his tripod stand all around when he went to Attapadi.

Still awaiting all the pictures and videos from him. He will soon send it to us.
Sunil.

Greetings with Sachu's handwritten message

Here is a Christmas greeting card from Attapadi where there is a message handwritten by Sneha thanking all for helping her with her surgery (for those who know Malayalam!!:))

Sneha receives our messages and greetings

I just got off the phone from John achen in Attapadi. Rajesh was there last weekend and handed over our messages the video of all of us to them. Achen said the kids were watching TV and when they saw the VCD played, they asked to put off the TV and watch the video. They all have seen the video and Sneha has seen the messages. Achen said she and Sachu were very happy to see the video of all and read the messages. Achen said Sneha has made some greetings which he will send to us.

Rajesh also has taken lots of video. He should be back in Jan. Lets wait for that.

Sneha's parcel on its way

Yesterday night we prepared a VCD for Sneha based on the photos of the last one year including the photo of all of us in the parish together with achen. The VCD also has video clippings of the programmes the kids participated in the last few months, and also some messages of introduction for Sneha we recorded yesterday.

The VCD along with the Christmas card signed by the children and the teachers and the personal messages of the kids to Sneha are all sent in a parcel to our friend Rajesh Vargheese in Austin, TX who will leave for India this Friday.
